Privacy Policy — Reel Caption Extractor

Reel Caption Extractor ("the extension") is a browser extension that transcribes the audio of TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook reels into text, displayed in an on-page overlay.

Bring your own key — by design

The extension does not operate any transcription servers and has no API keys of its own. You choose the transcription engine:

• Your own API key for OpenAI, Groq, DeepSeek, or any OpenAI-compatible provider. Your key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage and is sent only to the provider you selected, solely to transcribe audio you explicitly requested.
• Local Whisper — a small server you run on your own computer. Audio never leaves your machine.

What we collect

Email address (subscribers only). When you subscribe, payment is handled by ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) and Stripe (stripe.com). Your email and payment details are processed by those services to manage your subscription. We never see or store your card details.

Subscription status. Stored locally in your browser.

What we do NOT collect

• No browsing history, no page contents, no watched-video tracking
• No audio or transcripts — they go only to the engine you configured
• No API keys on any server — yours stays in your browser
• No analytics or tracking inside the extension

Third-party services

• ExtensionPay — payments. Privacy policy
• Stripe — payment processing. Privacy policy
• Your chosen transcription provider (only if you configure one) — subject to that provider's own privacy policy.

Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties.

Cancellation and data removal

Cancel anytime via "Manage subscription" in the extension popup. To request deletion of your payment record, contact us below.
